I got up early that morning, it was 5:35 am in the digital wall clock, birds were chirping outside, the sun was rising from the middle of two buildings and my body was feeling very light as if I could fly if I want. When I got up, everyone was still asleep, so I took a bath and then I was feeling very hungry so got myself a glass of milk and bread from the refrigerator. Then I thought of waking up everyone as it was 6:30 am when I looked at the clock. At about 9:30 I thought of going to the second floor and meet the girl. I went up the stairs and reached the last flat of the left row. I was about to press the bell when someone called me from behind, I turned around and saw the girl from the previous day. I said, “You? How did you come up from behind me all of a sudden?”
She said with a smile at the corner of her lips, “I just went for a morning walk. But what are you doing so early in the morning?”
I replied, “I have many questions for you, with all those questions within me, I am unable to sleep properly.” But by looking at her no one will say that she went for a morning walk. She was wearing a blue saree and who wears a saree for a morning walk. And she was looking beautiful in that blue saree of hers, like an angel who just came down from heaven. I was mesmerized by her appearance, her eyes were as deep as the ocean, her lips were like pink rose and the earrings were adding more to her angelic appearance. It made me forget the fact of her going for a morning walk wearing a saree.
She said, “Be careful, too many questions are not good for health”, and started laughing, then again said, “Ok fine, ask what you want to ask.”
I was so drowned in her beauty that I almost forgot everything, but her words brought me back to my sense. I started with the mountain of my questions, “First of all, what is your name, yesterday we talked for nearly half an hour or forty minutes but none of us said our names.” She said that she knows my name and she also said my name and said that I too know her name. I said that I don’t know and I have not said my name to her, then how did she know. She said, “Do you have the problem of short-time memory loss” and made a very pretty face of concern and started laughing. Again, I lost in her beauty and forgot everything about my surrounding. I was constantly looking at her when she snapped and brought me back to my sense. I was a little shy, and said, “Ok maybe I forgot and sorry for that, but can you say your name again?” She said her name but I couldn’t hear her name so checked my ear and said, “Sorry, but what did you say your name is?” She again laughed and said, “I think you don’t have any problem with short-time memory loss, you have a hearing problem.”
I started thinking, “What is this happening with me? She knows my name, how? I never said my name, and I know that my memory is not so bad that I will forget something which happened just yesterday. I know for sure that we never discussed our name yesterday. Then how did she know my name? When she said her name, why was I not able to hear? What happened to me all of a sudden? Am I all right? And how did I forget that why is she in saree if she went for a morning walk? Who wears saree for a morning walk and that too as beautiful saree as that?”
All the thoughts in my mind were all tangling up and I supported myself against the wall. Something was happening to me. She asked me, “Are you all right?” I said, “Yes, just, can I have some water?” She answered positively and invited me inside. I entered her flat with her, but what is this, and how is this even possible. It was not her flat, it was my room, and where is she, my eyes scanned the room for the girl. The girl was standing at one corner of the room and I slowly went up to her and called her, but I did not get any reply. I again called her as I was in utter shock as I was unaware of the fact that was happening to me. I slowly raised my arm and gradually put my hand on that girl’s shoulder to call her as she was not responding to me. As I called her, she turned towards me and I saw the knife that was in her throat, and blood gushing out of her mouth. I was so terrified, my world grew dark in just a jiffy, the clock was showing the time zero, everything around me was shaking and suddenly I started falling from a building and I fell into my bed.
I opened my eyes and saw it was 3 at night and it felt like I fell on my bed with a noise. I was trembling and sweating, I was unable to think of anything. I was in no place to decide, whether it was a dream or what. But it is for sure, that when I saw a knife in her throat, it felt like my heart was tearing itself apart and I will die too. It was a different feeling. I thought, “These days are not good for me, I am having nightmares for these two days. What is happening to me?” I drank some water and again went to get some sleep. Whenever I was closing my eyes her beautiful eyes and her pretty face were coming in front of me and the terrifying part of the dream disappeared.
The next morning, I woke up, took a bath, and had my breakfast. It was nearly 9 when I thought of meeting her. I went up the stairs and as I was going towards her flat, someone called me from behind. I turned my head towards that voice and I paused with fear, my heart thudded and it felt like time stopped around, I recollected what happened in my dream last night, as there she was in that same blue saree and the same appearance from my dream.
